Talk on 50 Years of Standardisation in the Internet
As part of our project on Streamlining Social Decision Making for Improved Internet Standards, Ignacio Castro gave an invited talk to the IESG, on the subject 50 Years of Standardisation in the Internet.
The talk outlined some results in the areas of RFC publication metrics and how they've changed over time, the membership of the IETF and changes in membership, and topic analysis and similarity metrics for working groups. These are early results, as we begin to understand and work with the IETF data tracker and mailing list archives, but hint that RFC publication is taking longer over time, and that IETF has challenges retaining new participants. More detailed analysis is ongoing.
